Hi there! I've had my compass since 2015. It's a 2014 4WD 2.5L. It has 156,000 miles on it and I've kept it maintained well.

Last February I drove it up a hill on the freeway, it overheated no smoke. I pulled over. The coolant was all the way up to the top of the lid (barely any spillage). I let it cool down for about 2-3 hours an the coolant disappeared from the reservoir. It ran just fine after. Then last night the same thing happened except for this time the coolant has stayed at the top of my reservoir even though it's been 40 degrees outside and almost 12 hours since it overheated.

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm nervous that a head gasket is on the brink of breaking and I don't want to continue to drive it if it's going to do so. I took it to the dealership months ago and they check everything and said its fine. Could be a thermostat getting stuck?
