please do yourself and other drivers on the road and read up about HID retrofit conversions before installing the kit you ordered. they are not the god send people are lead to believe. they actually hinder your ability to see effectively, they are glaring to others on the road, and are against federal law. a great read can be found on this website:

Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

and before anyone says anything about "hey, i have them in mine and i see hella good. the housing in the jeeps isn't that bad, it's other cars that's bad." false. the problem with putting HIDs in a housing meant for hallogen bulbs is by design, and is a problem in 100% of the applications. not to mention the fact that i don't think anyone has gotten them to work 100% in a compass with no flickering.

cliffnotes: ask about the return policy for those HIDs and consider sending them back. brighter =/= better

I said i'd like to try, never said I would use it full time, to date the only way i knew about turning of the dr's was through a flash at the dealership (which 99% won't do)

I"d just like to know how it's done.

sure sounded like you were going to do it to me :D

not harping on you, just wondering why one would want to do that, that's all. i understand why people put HID conversions in their car (they're either mis- or un-informed), but i couldn't figure out the benefits of disabling your DRLs.

I like to tinker:eyebrows: no worries.

The 2011+ Euro spec compass has HID headlamps stock. As well out compass headlamps are the exact part number as the 2011+ Grand cherokees, If I was going to go HID I would grab the hid housing from a grand cherokee and throw them in.

they are the same headlight, but for some reason the part numbers are, in fact, different. i think a tab or something on them is slightly different. but either way, the only correct way to do an HID conversion as you said is to swap the entire assembly, housing and all. i'm a believer in you do it right or not at all.

Which version of the mudflaps did you get and did they require any modding/hassle to get installed?

They were originality intended for the Subaru STI but my buddy crashed his car so gave em to me, I just had to drill thru the fender liner for 1 hole but all the other ones matched up
