Welcome! Hope you and your Compass have a long happy relationship.

Friendly advice: if you've been following this site for awhile you're probably aware that the 2.4 has a tendency to use oil. Use that dipstick and keep an eye on the level! Some Compasses have been OK, but others (like mine) are getting 1000 miles/qt or worse. At 20,000 mine seems to have finally broken in. I'm optimistic I can make it to my next change without adding any.

Hello all you Jeep lovers! I'm a long time reader and this is my first post I have a little Jeep compass I bought new in 2017 with the 2.4l in it. Sadly I know all about the Oil loss 10 quarts in 30,000 miles it has lost. Thank the l lord it shutdown if you fail to check it! I rarely get in it but my wife has went through the first set of tires already! Lol! Firestone destination. I did have to peek under the cover where the coil packs connect? Not an know all mechanic but have taken on several motor issues over the years. You have four countersink type holes with 8mm bolts that hold on what I would call the valve covers. In all four of these holes where
The bolts are is full of oil. Do you think the oil is leaking out here on all of these reports? Maybe the bolts should have a sealing type gasket on them. Was afraid to put a wrench on anything to see if it had a gasket. I soaked up the oil from the fastening ports and figured I will have a look in a week. Will update if anyone has an interest. Never had a issue with any of my other four jeeps previously owned so I'm very disappointed a brand R new one doing this! Especially with the Mobil 1 0-20 or is it 0-25 ? Synthetic anyway it ain't cheap. 5+ dollars a quart so I've spent over 60$ over my cost of the three oil changes I have had done. Even done it myself last time I. Fear of dealer not doing it correctly. Lol! Anyway it still loses oil like Alabama football team wins championships! Frequent! Roll Tide!

Welcome to the forum. (Ya oughtta start your own intro thread where everyone will see it)

Very interesting about the oil on top of the engine. When the temp gets above 0 F I'll take a look at it. Too cold to do anything more than necessary right now. The oil MUST be going somewhere! Can't believe I'm burning it or I'd see it coming out the tailpipe, and there's no puddles.
