I own a 2007 jeep compass 2.0 Liter. It failed the georgia admissions test and the code was a slow response from the backstream o2 sensor. I know that it is the back sensor located behind the catalyic converter. Would anyone be able to explain to me how to change it. I've heard it is not very difficult and i need to do it ASAP in order to get my car registration. Jeep dealer mechanic wants $360 to fix it ???? Crazy since the part is only $25.00. Can anyone help me???

Sensor

You have Autozones there in the US and other parts location which could give you specifics on the change if any. If its like the 2.4L I see one on the top near the firewall. Looks dead easy to change and finding the pluggin connector shouldn't be hard. As for OEM or aftermarket O2 I've never had to replace one in any vehicle myself.

If you have the tools it shouldn't be a problem. See attached breakout image. If you can downloaded and view on the computer it will be larger.

Sorry but site shrinks the image further and changed it from a GIF to JPG. I tried Save As and other means to bring it back to my system but its too small. The source image was barely large enough to read clearly. I am no certain why its being altered after I upload it for viewing. I could email it directly if you PM me with you email address. The sensor is shown but not marked.

I found a workaround for the small image issue. I created an Album in my profile and added it their. Its larger then in this thread. Click on my ID "tripplec" see profile open up in the pull down and open the album near the bottom right of the profile.
