I have been looking our Trailhawk over almost since we got it to try to figure out how I could add off-road lights to the front of it. I do not want to drill any holes in any place visible or I could use a license plate type light bar. Today I was thinking maybe a bracket could be added to the recovery hook bolts. I went and looked at the recovery hooks but not for long as it is chilly outside here but don't see how you can add a bracket without interfering with their use. Anyone else had any ideas as to adding lights to the front of their Trailhawk?


Next fight would be figuring out where to mount a switch for the lights inside without butchering anything up so any ideas with that would be cool as well.

One would think Jeep would know by now real Jeep owners typically tinker with and customize their Jeeps for both form and function then would make things like this a bit easier. My family and I like to run some of our forestry trails at night as they open up to amazing views of city lights at night. But off-road lights are a very common thing to add to a Jeep just for that tougher look even for mall crawlers. :)

There are a few vendors who make light bars for the "All New" compass, even with winch mounts. However, as it sounds like you've discovered, there must be holes drilled (minimum i've found is two in addition to factory holes) and/or front facia trimmed. A license plate type mount (although it would put your lights a bit close together) sounds like the best bet. I've also seen folks clamping them to the trailing (upper) edge of the hood.

Would a light bar or floods mounted on a cross-bar attached to the roof rails work? May not help if you're carrying something on your roof racks but should do for the occasional night run on your forestry roads.

As for wiring, if you used LEDs would the current draw be low enough to run in through an open window or between the door and door seal and then plug into a lighter socket?

Thanks guys! I have a license plate mount on my Chevy Tracker but only because it had already been drilled and messed up by PO having a front plate installed. The mount not only gave me a good place to mount a 22" led bar but also covered up the messed up part of the bumper. I would have to drill out the front of the Trailhawk to mount one of these as TN does not require a front plate. So I'm going to avoid a set up like this.

I'm also avoiding a roof mount option. I want to keep it clean looking and have also discovered that lights on the roof hurt MPG much more than keeping them in front in the grill area.

If aftermarket does not catch up to the MP at some point I will fab something up myself. I'm looking to see if I can mount lights behind the lower valance and hoping the honeycomb grill does not hurt light transmission through it too much.

Another option I found is the front impact bar comes up right under the 3 slots in the upper fascia. There is a good bit of a lip that might allow for custom clamp on type brackets. These could be done as either light mounting tabs or brackets that weld/bolt onto a small light mount bar. Two or three 6" or so round led lights would look great there!

But right now I have a lot of work on my plate so it will be a while before I have time and $$$ to play with the little Jeep too much. :(
