Hi all,

I posted in the introduction thread but I don't think anyone noticed!

I'm Jamie, originally from the UK but living in Montreal with my fiancee Karen and our young Canadian son Lucas.

We're due to pick up our 2011 Cherry Red Compass North 4x4 this Friday, can't wait! It's taken several weeks to get organised not being residents yet, and finding someone to take over our 2009 Patriot lease.

You can see a preview in my garage, I'll add more when we actually get it - waiting for OWL tires and splash guards to be fitted, it has sun/sound group and north all season group.

My first question is how good is CarID for parts or do you have other recommendations? I want in-channel window visors and eventually roof rack and cargo box or basket.

Update

So we actually picked up the car today (a day early!) and its great, much smoother and feels like better build quality than the 09 Patriot.

Its getting the OWL tires and splash guards tomorrow so I'll add pics after, maybe in the June vote

Thanks guys, good to be here - I'm looking forward to learning more about the Compass. We're definitely loving the car - I originally wanted a 2011 Ford Edge but the payments would be too high (long story!) - but once we saw the Compass it was the obvious next choice (Ford tried to get us into an Escape though).

It took around 5 weeks to get, but that was because of finding someone to take over my Patriot lease. The actual car was 2 days once they found one in nearby stock (ordering would have been a 2012 model and taken 8-12 weeks!)

Anyway, some updated images - I'll be adding to the Jeep of the month too

Hey bud! Nice to see another new Compass owner!

Sounds like you had the same problem as me. My wife and I wanted a new Edge so bad, but the payments would have been to much. They are super sweet Crossovers with great styling, IMO!:hyper: We almost went for the new Escapes, but then we saw they had the Compasses there too and low-and-behold, here I am now!:spinning:

But, don't get me wrong, we absolutely love our new Compass. I have not done much with ours yet, but I am fixing to start upgrading my lighting and I really want to tint the front windows and re-tint the rear ones with good metallic tint to help with UV rays. I know they have built-in tint, but you can add light tint to make them a tad darker and get the UV protection of aftermarket tint.

If you're ordering its best to have the OEM tint which is in the glass. The aftermark tint film is prone to damage from sharp or pointed objects. When carring a load you have to be aware that hard items don't make contact and rub on the glass. I am told that ammonia based cleaner (Windex) will attack the film and bubble it (I have not tried it but just believe that to be fact).

This is primarily for those who don't know the pitfalls of the aftermarket film. However, if you have clear glass the tint even normal density makes a big different or improvement on the direct heat from the sun on your poor body. To me its a must had, unless you don't get bright summer sunny days. My current vehicles are factory tint and do a fine job.
