Hi all....I had something strange happen to me on my way home last night. I live on an acreage so I travel on 2 highways to get home. I have to turn left off the divided highway, travel a short distance until I come to a stop sign to cross the opposite direction of traffic and then continue onto the 2nd highway. I hope this makes sense. Anyway, I slowed to make that left hand turn, then as I come off the turn, I go to give it a little gas and get no reaction from my car. It won't speed up so I am just putting along (not slowing, but not speeding up) to the stop sign. I stop and wait until it is very safe to cross since my car won't go very fast and it is a busy highway. As I press the gas pedal this time, it does accellerate a bit, but I notice it is revving like crazy..the tach says around 5400 rpms and is steady at that! I wasn't flooring it at all. It was still revving even as I pulled over on the shoulder and stopped. I turned off the car and restarted and it worked fine again. I didn't notice any lights come on either but I wasn't paying attention to that, only the tach...yes, I am kicking myself now for not noticing!
My husband asked me if I bumped the gear shifter into autostick mode, but no, I hadn't touched it since I left the parking lot in the city. He also says it would be next to impossible to tell what happened without a light coming on, so I guess I am out of luck then and will have to wait and see if it happens again some day. I only had about 400kms on the odometer at that point too. I used it again today and it worked fine. Anybody else have this problem occur or hear of this before?
