Hello,
I have a 2007 jeep compass with about 157,000 miles on it. Earlier this year my wife drove it into a ditch. No serious damage to vehicle, but the side airbags deployed from the headliner when it tilted as it hit the ditch. I drove it out of ditch, back to the house, cut out the now defunct air bags so it can still be driven.

I am due for state inspection next month, and I am pretty sure that the airbag light on the dash will keep it from passing inspection. My question is, has anybody had these replaced before? I am trying to get an idea of the cost I am about to get into. A friend suggested trying to get the airbag light disabled in the dash so it would slide by inspection. I might be ok with this if it can be done safely, but I am going to need to replace the air bags anyways after Christmas, so I am trying to get some prices so I can compare with local dealers and garages to see if I am getting gouged or not.

I appreciate any insight.

Thanks for you time!

Sorry I cant help with this exactly but my son had airbags deploy on his Pontiac Sunfire and as soon as ins. company heard airbags needed replacing, they wrote off the car as replacement cost exceeded the value of the vehicle..
Hopefully this works out better in your case.

in pa the air bag light being on will not cause a fail on isnpection. you would have to make it look like they didnt deploy. my suggestion would be to trade it in.
