My car automatically updated itself on February 24. I never got a prompt; the only reason I knew it updated was the screen was bight and all numbers were in metric. I changed those back through "Vehicle Settings". I double checked my radio info. and was able to confirm I got the latest update. The volume works fine now and I noticed some other UConnect enhancements were added. So now, all is good here in the Motor City. FINALLY!

I’m still waiting for the update. Yesterday the door speakers stopped working, and right now the volume is really low, has anyone else faced the same? I’m thinking on performing a full reboot of the system, is there a specific way to do that or is it all thru the system settings?

Yes, I have a similar situation. I only get sound out of the front 2 dash speakers. If I put the balance control most of the way to the back I get sound out of the other speakers, but it is very muted and doesn't sound right. Not sure that the update will fix that. When you get the update please let us know if all the speakers start working or not.

So, I just signed the papers on a 2022 red edition Tuesday. I had been driving it to work for a couple days as a test drive and about 40 minutes into my commute, noticed the volume fade on the radio....10 minutes later, it had faded to nothing. I came to the forums and, BAM, known issue. I have the 17.99 version and, as of this morning, I still have the fading issue. Please forgive me if I'm asking a question that's been answered many times....there's so much to read on this issue....does this over the air update apply to my version?

Yes, the OTA applies to 17.99 and I believe the rollout began last month so you should get it. I am just not sure whether Jeep is still pushing the OTA update, or they let dealers install it using USBs. If you don’t get the OTA, I believe you can call your dealer and provide the TSB number (TSB: 08-065-23) that JeepCares provided here. There is no clear explanation why some did not get it, but it’s good that there’s another alternative. Good luck and hope you get it soon!

I waited a bit to respond to this. Originally replied "other" now I feel "Yes" it worked for all the issues we were having.

Our issues were more than just the radio fading.
Ours kept dropping Bluetooth functions every 30 seconds.
We could not get Android Auto to work unless plugged in.
Phone would not work unless plugged in.
Constant error messages saying we needed to go to the dealer.
The worst was the Black Screen making all of the things uconnect controls unavailable.

Took to dealer 3 times in the 7 months only to have the dealer say there was nothing wrong and the dealer offered zero ideas on fixing things. On the last visit the dealer suggested getting a lemon law attorney involved because there was nothing that could be done.

Things have been smooth since the update 3 weeks ago.
Fingers are crossed.

Shame on your dealer for not informing you (1) there was a known issue and (2) addressing the issue before they let you drive off the lot.
Completely irresponsible on their part!

Please calm down....my husband is the GM of the dealership. Yes, our tech did know it was an issue...I didn't, but he did, when we notified him. In fact, if I would have called him first, he had all the info that is here. Not all have been affected....he had not needed to update one prior to mine. They knew exactly what the problem was and what to do when this one did have the problem. We were curious to see if the over the air update got pushed to mine once ownership changed and it did not. It's at the dealership today for the update. Yes, they somewhat used me as a guinea pig and I was willing. And, it's a radio, not a safety concern....

Sorry, but doing the fix for a known issue should be part of new vehicle prep, a new owner should never see the problem, let alone have to take the time to bring a vehicle back for repair. The dealership should be going through every new Compass (and maybe other models?) on the lot and making sure they're updated, whether via OTA or USB.

As I said, my husband is the General Manager...this car didn't go through a typical "new car prep" for us. We pulled it off the lot on a weekend to drive it, decided we liked it and would trade and did the paperwork...all while the car was in our possession. Our dealership, and many others, has a major shortage of qualified techs and a backlog of vehicles needing repaired...using their time to update cars sitting on the lot is asinine. Plus, they check for updates on my wrangler every time it's in for service...usually it has one. You'd be updating some of these cars 3 or 4 times before they sold. Do they normally check for updates and do them under normal circumstances before delivering to a customer? Yes, I'm sure they do. Everyone, please quit nitpicking an issue that I AM FINE WITH.... I'm here for info and networking, not drama!!!
