235/70/17 will not fit, in the 17" size you can run

235/65/17 with a small but of rubbing unless you run 1.25" spacers, and modify the pinch weld in the wheel well.

225/70/17 is larger overall diameter than 235/65/17, but a bit narrower in width, spacers are going to need to be used as well.

If you aren't lifted then it will be a bit more difficult to fit larger tires spacers are going to be needed for sure.

One other thing to keep in mind is that larger tires can be significantly heavier than the factory tires, which affects gas mileage and as well overall handling as well.

225/65/17 is a safe size to run without spacers or a lift.

What type of tires are you looking to run?

Rocky road lift kit and spacers and tires

After 4 years i have decided to make adjustments to my jeep and I have some questions. Is the rocky road lift kit worth the money or no? Is that the only lift aviavlbe for the compass? If i get spacers that are 1.5 could i run a tires that are LT255/75R17 with no rubbing? Last question is there a way to mount a bull guard to jeep, everywhere i look online i can not find one made for the compass. Thank you for your help.

In theory you could run 255/75/17 however it is VERY doubtful that they would ever fit, as I said before they would be too heavy for a compass, and even if you had large enough spacers to get the tires far enough out, the actual wheel well opening is going to be the limiting factor.

235/65/17 is a safe bet.

245/65/17 has been done but there is very little clearance in the wheel well with those tires.

If you go offroad the Rocky Road lift kit makes a noticeable difference in performance especially if you are pushing your compass offroad. I bottom out far less than I used to, and the other upside is the compass looks a lot nicer with a little lift on it.

The only other lift available is through Murchison Products in Australia

2.0 Patriot/Compass Suspension System | Murchison Products AEV QLD Distributor

Problem is shipping to north America gets to be very expensive.

Here is a list of bars that are specially made for the compass.
