Mother's 2010 FWD compass is making a roaring sound mostly at low speeds from the front end
2 garages say driver side wheel bearing
They replaced it and its still doing it...happens at about 30 mph but when you get so fast (70 mph on interstate) its gone...IF it was both wheel bearings wouldnt replaceing one atleast made it a little quieter? Replacing the one did nothing...probably gonna replace the other side but i was wondering what else it could be? Ball joints are new aswell (<10,000 miles new)

Front end noise, and other noises

My daughter's 2011 Compass Latitude 4x4 has the same problem. She did not notice any noise with winter tires on black steel rims. I mounted four new summer tires on the factory rims, and within a month, it sounds like knobby tire noise from the front, and she feels a vibration on her accelerator peddle. The noise also sounds like the background noise you hear when you fly in a commercial airliner cruising at 30,000 feet.

With the front tires off the ground, while holding the front strut, and rotating the tires by hand, I can not feel any wheel bearing vibration or "play" when I wiggle the tires left/right. Rear bearings were bad about a year ago and have both been replaced. That was a different sound altogether.

I have done many searches on many forum sites and many of these posts have their different opinions. Many say tires, while others mention the notorious front bearing or transmission noises.

The resonating humming noise even sounds like it could be the transmission. I dropped the CVT pan about a year ago, changed the filter/screen, and added a non MOPAR CVT+4 transmission fluid. Levels are still at 38-40mm and all has been quiet so far.

It has me stumped. I'm tempted to put the winter tires back on for a ride to see if that makes a difference.

We even have the rubber-sounding clunking in the left rear when slowly riding down a pot-hole street. Many posts have also mentioned how they were told they needed to change out their rear control arms and other suspension parts.

I have not seen too many posts about many of these noises for the 2011 (or newer) Compasses.

Any other ideas?
