Hi

I've got a 2011 Compass with a 430 REW Head Unit.

It is now displaying 'Emergency Update v3.008' - and is expecting some sort of software update via disc or usb.

The unit is completely locked.

Jeep have no knowledge of the update (I called the help line)

I've checked MyGig and there is no mention of it. I've googled it and there is no mention.

Jeep suggested I take it to a dealer - I'm not sure what they'll do if the Jeep Helpline don't know what it relates to !

Any suggestions ? Disconnect battery ?

May be best to take it to the dealer and see if they can don anything about it. The people at the Jeep Helpline answering questions probably won't know as much as the people working on Jeeps day in and day out.

Hi AdrianDay,

We'd recommend visiting your local dealership for an official diagnosis, they will be best able to assist you further. I'm happy to follow up with them for you if needed.

I work in computers - day in and day out.

The unit is NOT displaying a random message, OR behaving erratically or crashing.

It is displaying a definitive error message 'Emergency Update v3.008' this must be either coded into it, OR somehow it has received a message from somewhere instructing it to do this - it cannot be generating this randomly.

All I'm asking for is a location where the update that it is requesting can be downloaded from - SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE within the Jeep empire must know the answer without me having to take it to a garage.

Imagine if everytime your computer said it needed to update software you had to take to a repair centre ! - That would be insane.

An update on this....

I called GM Help Line in the US - and all they could suggest was performing the reset procedure.
I have performed the uConnect soft reset procedure and this has no effect whatsoever.
I have tried disconnecting the battery for a several hours and this has no effect whatsoever...

Highly unimpressed with this overall experience, next stop Jeep agent and no doubt a massive bill !

Hopefully the software update won't cost much and it's just a simple procedure for them to do. Wish there was a way to update the system without bringing it in to the dealership but that doesn't seem to be the case. This does make me wonder if I should spring for extended warranty.

So I've finally fixed the problem very easily by downloading the correct files from the MyGig website AND importantly cutting the CD ROM using the software they provide a link to which burns the files on the CD correctly.

The Emergency Update message is noted as a known issue but not with the v3.008 suffix.

So DO NOT contact Jeep, DO NOT contact Chrysler go straight to the mygig website - gotta say they were extremely helpful.

Such a shame that Jeep/Chrysler did not point me there in the first instance.
