Hi Steph.

Thanks for the response. Just spoke with the dealer today and they told me they cannot do the update manually that I just have to continue to wait. What they will do is reset the radio, disconnect the battery etc. to see if that helps. I doubt that is going to help at all. Worst of all, I can’t get an appointment until March 29th. Perhaps they have not heard about this TSB 08-065-23? I just wish I could do the update myself via USB. Very frustrating, but I’m remaining patient.
Starshift, I Would call Jeep Uconnect customer service and tell them to send you a USB with the update overnight! Their number is (877) 855-8400

Thank you Sooner for that advice. I did not know one could do that. I know I could easily do this update myself. Wish we could download the update on a website and then do it ourselves. I’m going to wait and see what Steph can do first. I will call and ask Uconnect as a last resort. I’m sure they probably won’t distribute it like that though. If they did, they would have been offering that. Thanks!

Hi Super Sooner 1974,

The call center wouldn't be able to send USB updates, it would need to be applied by the dealership since the update is available there.

My car automatically updated itself on February 24. I never got a prompt; the only reason I knew it updated was the screen was bright and all numbers were in metric. I changed those back through "Vehicle Settings". I double checked my radio info. and was able to confirm I got the latest update. The volume works fine now and I noticed some other UConnect enhancements were added. So now, all is good here in the Motor City. FINALLY!

Steph, I have called 3 different Jeep dealers in Oklahoma and none of them have this USB to install the update! Do you know when Jeep is sending these USBs to dealers, or do they need to make a request to get?

I just called my dealer and they were not aware of this update. I gave then the TSB # and they were able to look it up. I made an appointment to get my Compass in to have this installed, but the soonest they can take it is March 29th. On March 29th I will have suffered with this problem for more that 1 year! 1 year and 6 days to be exact. I cant believe I am still dealing with this problem.

Too bad there are no competent dealers in your area. They don't send out USB drives. Firmware upgrades are something dealers download.using their wiTECH service tool.

If you check out my YouTube post on" 2022 Compass Uconnect Problems 2022 Jeep Compass Audio Volume Fades to Zero" I just got a message from Jason that said" My jeep dealership had a separate USB to do the software update. They got the USB just a couple days ago."

Hello everyone,

We appreciate the feedback that has been shared among the forum regarding the sound concerns in the Uconnect 5 system. In a recent update, the national over-the-air launch changed with the following:
  • For those currently at R17.99 software level, the national launch timing is TBD.
  • For those currently at R17.98 software level, the national launch timing is expected by the end of January, but the timing is subject to change at any time for reason.
To locate your software level, you can select Apps > All Apps > Settings > System Information > Build Number on your touchscreen. Our team deeply apologizes for any miscommunication and frustration this causes, and we will continue to provide new updates as they’re received.

I received the update and my radio still fades out after 50 minutes of continuous driving. Still frustrated!!

As long as the vehicle is in range of US or Canadian cellular networks, the update should be capable of reaching your vehicle. Another option would be visiting an authorized Jeep dealer in Canada to assist with the USB update per TSB 08-065-23.

Is the OTA still going on or does my wife have to start looking for a Jeep dealer in Canada to have the update installed. She still has not recieved the update.

The update is still going on. If she hasn't received it yet, we recommend visiting the dealer, or calling Jeep Canada at 800-465-2001, to confirm the USB update will apply to her vehicle. Feel free to PM us for any additional questions or support.

Glad to hear many are getting their issues resolved…
My update from 17.98 has not happened.
We were out of town from 2/16 until yesterday and I full expected to return to an updated version. I know that software updates can happen in my garage which is in the Chicago area, had several on my ‘19 Bighorn that showed up with a simple acknowledge screen.
Needless to say, very disappointed. And now it looks like I have to expend time scheduling an appointment with a dealer to get the update.
This has been a huge cluster…
