I've had my 2012 Jeep Compass Altitude for almost two years now and have never run into issues, however at the beginning of the year the stereo audio cut out while listening to the radio. Next time I turned my car on it worked just fine so I didn't think much about it, until after a few minutes it cut out again!

Fast forward to now, these are the symptoms I've noticed.. if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate the help!

• All displays work fine & completely normal, I can change between CD, Radio, Bluetooth etc.. just no sound.
• When I turn the volume knob the display doesn't show the volume bar & numbers when there's no sound.
• WEIRDEST SYMPTOM Volume will work completely normal for CD's & Bluetooth ONLY when car is started under 0°C outside, however if I park and turn off the car and turn it back on, it will not work - car MUST cool down and reach 0°C before volume works. However, while the volume works for a CD and I change it to a radio station, it will stop working.
• Now that it's warm outside it hasn't worked in about a month or two.

My biggest concern is if I buy a new stereo head that the issue won't be solved if it's another internal wire or fuse... I'm open to suggestions on what I should look at before spending money!

You have a poor connection somewhere where when cold it’s making electrical contact. When warm with expansion of plastic parts and diff types of metal there is no contact. Replace radio

I believe your radio unit is beginning to fail. Happened to mine and eventually you'll be left with a very large paperweight.

The components in Jeep's radios are basically ****. After 4-5 years, they lose internal connection and the electrical components fry/burn out (happens faster if you drive on excessively bumpy roads a lot). Looks like you'll eventually have to replace the radio head unit like I did.

Sucks majorly.

My 2015 compass has similar issues, except for the temperature thing, mine doesn't care how hot or cold it is . It started with just the radio, now its everything... the radio doesn't work at all anymore, I can see the stations but I can't hear them. I ended up subscribing to sirius, sometimes it works, sometimes not at all and others, here's the weird part, it will cut out for 3 seconds and come back on for 4 seconds, its the same sequence every single time... it just doesn't make sense

Got 2016 compass with voice comands plays cd and salite advertisements off and on no radio sometimes it will just come on and for a sec like it's Possessed and then off for months . Everyone has the same issue too many of us with same problem Interesting!!!!😡

I can still see the display but all I get is static now all of a sudden my satellite radio is cutting in and out every 3 to 4 seconds, and so is my Bluetooth connection to my Apple Music Anyone know what’s going on or have any suggestions? I treat this vehicle like gold as I have no idea what to do. I have aftermarket warranty to 120,000 km and end of 2024, but I miss my radio and I’m paying for satellite help.

Exact same thing with mine! It's incredibly frustrating and I can't seem to find any answers online. Has anyone responded to you with help yet?
