Well, I did something terribly boring and went and got my plates today. Actually I am glad I did. I feel very self conscious driving around with the paper plates.

I seems odd though, they gave me the plates, my Ham Radio plates are still on order; so when they come in I will have a second set of plates. I keep saying plates; be, even odder, this state (Kansas) only issues one plate. I asked what I am supposed to do in states that require two plates. The gal there said that she was aware that some states require two plates; but claimed that they have no record of anyone actually being cited for it. . .

Did a look around underneath. The subframes look good but the oil pan is rusty - guess they still hadn't fixed that in 2014. On of the CV boots seems to be leaking grease. It has to go in for a recall so I phoned the dealer about the CV boot - the person kept saying CVT while I kept saying CV boot, so it wasn't a productive conversation.

ok the recall to replace the 'Occupant Restraint Controller' was done. They looked at the CV boot and said it needs a new driveshaft and it would cost $300. I said, driveshaft sure sounds like part of the powertrain to me and should be under warranty. They came back as said yes it is covered. (can't expect a FCA service advisor to know the details of FCA warranties after all). Then they thought they had the part but no it was the wrong one, so have to go back another day.
Typical FCA dealership service dept. Don't know obvious things, can't find parts, hurry up and wait. But they didn't actually lie to me or try to blame me for my vehicle's problems, so that was an improvement.

zoner99, are you happy with the wheel trim? I've been mulling around the idea of doing that to my Compass but I'm still undecided.

I'm happy with it. A stock Compass has wheels and tires that are set inward, I think they look better pushed further out so that the outer side of the wheels and tires is in line with the curve of the fenders/wheelwheels (approx zero offset wheels with 235's). The wheel trim accentuates that.
The wheel trim is attached with 3M adhesive and can be re-positioned or removed entirely with no hassles if you so choose.

Well. . . I drove it to the Jeep dealership and walked home. Now I find out what the third party warranty will actually cover.

This was yesterday, hope y’all don’t mind that lol.
I picked up this Thule Canyon XT basket off of OfferUp for $100. Looks brand new had all of the hardware, covers, Allen key, and the instructions with it. I also replaced the headlight bulbs with some LED’s. Though I’m currently waiting on the canbus anti flicker harness to show up today.

Today I replaced the black faced foam wheel with a silver and leather one from a 2014 Compass. I was happy that it showed up with no scuffs and all of the controls work great! Also have the nice volume adjustment on the back now.

Almost two weeks since I sold my BMW 550i GT, Twin Turbo M Edition and purchased a 2010 Jeep Compass North Edition with 110,000 km, single owner before me, clean Carfax.

First off, I remote started the Jeep because I could, and did not have to unplug it from the Battery Tender like I had to do everyday with the BMW.

Second, after starting the Jeep, not one fault light came on! I then drove my daughter to work. Then I went to the gym, then dropped by Loblaws to pick up some groceries. I did not notice not having a Twin Turbocharged V8 w/ 523 HP, nor did I need, or ever feel the need during this trip to go from 0-60 in under 5 seconds, or 4, or 3.6, or whatever it was.

Third, I parked the Jeep, I did not use a quarter tank of gas, nor did I need to add half a quart of oil. Nor did the trip result in any error codes and a $2,000 repair bill.

Finally, at 6'4", I was amazed at how much headroom and general space there is....noice!

For the amount I drive, and with winter about to be here (just had winter tires and rims w/sensors installed), I truly am super happy I picked this little beast up. It completes me.

Tomorrow, I hope to repeat the above.....enjoy your Jeeps my fellow brothers and sisters! lol

Your state of registration is Kansas and they only require 1 plate. If you travel out of state another states police force can not cite you for no front tag because you are not registered in their state. Hope that makes sense.
