I was curious if anyone else was having an issue when they open a window at any speed over 30 mph. The noise is hard to explain but it is deep and almost painful on your eardrums. And the only way to counter this noise is by opening more windows. Is there something I can do to reduce this effect?
this happens to me when i only open the rear windows.. All i do is open the front window a little bit and the "helicopter nose" goes away. is that what you are talking about?:dunno:
One way to combat this is to open the windows on opposite corners, eg. front left, back right. This creates a good air flow. Also works well if you smoke while driving!
The first thing I found about the Compass that I did not like.
After building cars for a hundred years, why the #@%% can the engineers not put out a vehicle without this issue. WTF !
It's neither a problem nor a design flaw, it's physics. When only one window is open on a vehicle you're going to get buffeting. Open a window on the other side, even just an inch, and the buffeting will stop.
PS, the sound/sensation is worse if you open only one backseat window. You won't leave it down for long.
