Besides some minor features like touchscreen size, are these close to the same, in body looks, mpg, and overall basic features?

Ive heard to buy a 2020 or above, as 19s had issues, maybe akin to the patriot getting some of the kinks worked out lol

Looking at 2020,21's maybe 22 in next year or so.... Patriot is holding up, at over 200 k miles now, and see compasses everywhere, just like patriots exploded overnight , at one time...

Welcome to the forum.

I've had my '19 Trailhawk since last October, no issues so far. Quite a few people have been having problems with the 8.4" touchscreens that come in some. The newer models 21 and newer, I believe, have larger screens and I haven't heard anything about those. Unfortunately, a lot of people with the newer models have been complaining of the parking brake, which is electric, coming on while they're driving... definitely NOT a good thing. The dual-battery setup for the stop/start system has also given some people grief

I can't really tell the 17's apart from the 24's, unless they're parked right next to each other. The 17's had oil burning issues that were fixed via a software update.

I think the noses look sexier on the trailhawks lol, the inside leather and trim as well. More of a status symbol imo, which is cool. Im keeping it basic though $ wise and wanting to keep expenses lower, even if its a few thousand bc have another area wanting to put $ into, even if its a few k's.

There was something the 18 compasses were having trouble with that the 19s corrected. Reason why I want to get a 20 or newer is want this to last a while, and the newer model number is more psychologically fullfilling than say a 17.

What kind of patriot did or do you have?

The reason I bought a riot fwd 2.0 sport is bc of Ignatz post in the 2x4 section, way back in 2011, saying how good it was offroad, and it lived up to that. That post sold me on patriot fwd . Ill think ill keep patriot for not putting that many miles on the compass, put 500 miles per week on it easily. To visit a dog , I resued and found a better home, than she was at. Everytime she sees me she gets excited and scratches doors up with her sharp toenails, when visiting her about once a week, feeding her and getting my release of oxytocin from petting her . She has a male yellow dog friend, who took a loving to as well.

Is compass sport good offroad , as patriot fwd sport?

Im thinking of going with the sport bc its lower maintaince, really dont need four wheel drive, if it is as good as the patriot offroad, thats really all Im wanting.

My Patriot was a Sport with the FD2 off-road package. I didn't do any research on it before I purchased it. Dumb, I know. Long story, but I didn't plan on buy it (or anything) when I did, I was just taking my brother to pick up his new RAM 2500 and one thing led to another. I am glad I got it though, was the best vehicle I ever owned up to that point. And I've owned quite a few. It was amazing in the Buffalo, NY winters. The city doesn't plow my street and there had been days that I had to call off of work after a snowstorm because my previous vehicle (VW Jetta) couldn't get out of the driveway. I drove the Patriot thru snow as deep as the headlights and never got stuck.

I'm pretty new to Compass'. I purchased this one at the end of last October. The Patriot's roof was rusting thru along the seam and was going to cost WAYYY more than it was worth to fix. I felt I had to buy another vehicle quick because if I let the rust get more noticeable it would really affect the trade in value. I shined her up as good as I could and ended up getting almost $1k over her book value. I wanted another vehicle just as good in the snow and did a search online... 4x4, suv, compact, exclude Ford, Mitsubishi, and Nissan, within 100 miles, sort by price. This was the cheapest vehicle on the resulting list. Maybe not the best way to pick a vehicle, lol, but I really like it... for the most part. The one thing I don't really like is it's lack of interior storage. When I cleaned out my Patriot, I removed almost an entire shopping bag full of stuff. I didn't realize just how much stuff I had squirreled away in there. The Compass... might be able to hold a small McDonalds bag worth of stuff.

I really don't know anything about the FWD Compass or Patriot, so I don't want to speculate.

The facelifted 2nd gen Compass (2022+) interior is way above that of the initial 2nd generation Compass, which was more akin to the Renegade interior.

Also you can get the 2.0l turbo on the facelift 2nd gen model which is again a better all round motor. (In my limited experience of the 2.4l in a Compass rental.)

The only things im having issues with my 18 compass is it shiggles after every start up at a stoplight or stop sing when i start driving it , i also get voltage dips on the cigarette 12 v socket and the socket in the real allong with the 12 v wall outlet it just shuts it all off and it comes back ondurimg every startup at a stoplight or stop sign and very randomly it hard shifts and makes a metal noise but keeps driving like nuthin has happened, my mechanic scaned codes and it looks like there a communication problem between the computer and the drivetrain, and another code he has never seen befor that includesengine druvetrain and transmission, we replaced the aux and main battery and it hasnt hard shifted yet but is pretty random on the shiggling butthe voltage dips are still goin on and its annoying as i had my gps connected to it and the voltage dip made the gps restart i. Tried all the sickets and wall outlet in the car and ut happins on em all but the usb ports which is what my gps is now connected to but not enough current to let the screen be bright
