Hi egreen9319,

Your dealer is likely referring to this Uconnect software update, T25.48.

Hello to our Jeep Brand enthusiasts,

We've been monitoring your conversations and hear your concerns surrounding your Uconnect 5 systems, and a "Uconnect Box Requires Service" error message that you may be receiving. We wanted to provide some clarification, to put your minds at ease. We can confirm that the pop up does not reflect an internal radio error that requires a dealership visit. We apologize for the concern and confusion that this may cause you, but please know that our teams are actively working on a resolution. At this time, we are able to confirm the fix will be delivered via an over-the-air update to the telematics box module (TBM). While our teams are hoping to release this software fix by the end of Q1 2022, this timing is subject to change at any time and we appreciate your patience throughout the process.

Please feel free to send us a private message or reach out to our friends at @UconnectCares on Twitter, if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Courtney

The over the air update is not the fix for the UConn connect error code and it will cause the sos button led to be red now with that being said that is a safety issue for a recall because I connected my phone to the car and had error massage 3 days in a row. I just want to know why they don't know how to fix the issue thank you.

Hi all, new Compass owner here. After 2 years of researching this error in my 2021 Durango I finally solved the issue. Not sure if the source of the error message is the same for the Compass.

Sorry cant post a link yet. You can find the info on dodgedurango (dot) net

"Uconnect Box Requires Service / Troubleshooting and Fix"

Replacing the cable between the radio and telemetrics box (behind the glove box) and the shark fin antenna solved the issue in my DD

For my Durango there have been 2 Telemetrics OTA updates, last year and last month and they did nothing. There have also been OTA updates to the radio that also did nothing.

Over on the Durango site it took us over 2 years to figure it out that is was the connector/cable/antenna issue.

For 2 years I was getting the massage 3-10x per day, after the cable and antenna was replaced almost 2 months ago it has not come back.

Just sayin' it maybe something to look into on the Compass.

BTW: "dodgecares" did absolutely nothing to help as far as I can tell. @JeepCares

I'm getting the Uconnect Box Requires Service warning almost every time I start the car and occasionally while I'm driving. Car has 10,000 miles. The latest recall letter I received says I didn't have take any actions as the record shows I had already received the update over the network. Made appointment with dealer in Bremerton Wa but it looks like they are going to charge me around $180.00 to troubleshoot.

It's under warranty, that's BS. @JeepCares ?
Hi @mikes,

As dealership's are privately owned, we do not have information on diagnosis appointment costs, but we can connect @brianbrownitm1 with a case manager who can provide further support alongside the dealership.

Whoosh. If the unit is saying "Requires Service", and is under warranty, there should be no "diagnosis appointment costs." It can't be anything except a warranty repair, unless there's a bullet hole through the unit.

I just bought a 2021 jeep grande cheorkee L. 21 days after purchase from carnax I am getting the uconnect box error every 3-4 minutes. Can you pleasectell me how to fix this issue. I'm really not happy that this message covers the entire screen. I fell like the error message is a prompt to buy the subscription. Can I stop it or just turn it off.

Replacing the box and labor is estimated at 1300.00. This does not seem fair.
As I stated above many of us over on a Durango forum were working together to diagnose this issue. I can't say for sure that the same fix applies to other CDJR vehicles.

But if I was a betting man I would absolutely bet it's the cable that runs from the uConnect head unit to the telemetrics box behind the glove box.

Some over at the Durango forum had luck simply unplugging and plugging each end back in ensuring it was seated well.

You need to pull the head unit and the glove box out. If you are handy and brave you can do it with a bit of Internet sleuthing.

The cable for the D was less than $50. I figured I would break something so it cost me a couple hundred bucks to have the dealership swap it out.

I also replaced the antenna unit inside the "sharkfin" because at the time others had theorized it was also a culprit.

I used to get the message 2-3x per day. Haven't seen it in 6 months.

Good luck
