I thought if a few members were on board to help me out it would be fantastic!

My plan. Get as many people with a jeep compass to measure their CVT fluid level.

Here is my suggestion.

1) Make sure vehicle is parked on flat ground.
2) Vehicle is parked overnight.
3) Use a small wire or dipstick from another vehicle that is long enough and measure from the starting of the fluid level to the top opening of the fill tube.

Let me know if this idea will work or if anything can be added. I just wanted some consistency to at least get me in the ballpark.

2007 Jeep compass.
Reason for needing this info is I changed the transfer case out, and lost a bunch of CVT fluid but not sure how much! I added some, but the transmission is not acting normal.

Maybe we should add ambient temperature to this. I am trying to avoid going to the dealer and am willing to risk things if I can just get a baseline parked on flat ground measurement. Just want to sell the jeep and don't want to go through the hassle of insurance to get the the vehicle to the dealership to check transmission fluid level. Or hauling it to dealership on a trailer etc......

Upon doing more research, I think I will just drain the fluid into a super clean container and re-measure fluid to the 5 1/2 quarts like another member on here has done and replace that exact amount by either adding or subtracting the appropriate amount! Maybe just pick up a transmission oil pan gasket. Problem solved!
