After even more lights started turning on I was worried to even drive my car to an auto store because it kept saying it would shut off, so a buddy who is a mechanic came and took a look at it for me. Turns out my certain make & model (2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk) require their oil changed way more often than most Jeeps and other cars. I was due in about 600 miles for another oil change but the mechanic said most places will tell you to wait until 5000 to get your oil changed, this particular car needs it done every 3,000 miles. He checked my oil level and sure enough it was low (for this model, not for a standard vehicle). A quart of oil was added to test what he thought and every light went away and my car was totally back to normal thankfully! I took it the next day to a Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership to get the oil changed and they actually mentioned without me saying a word that the typical fast oil change places are not giving Jeep owners proper oil maintenance mileage suggestions and I need to come every 3,000 miles. I asked them to run a full diagnostics on it and they said it was all in great shape other than the oil. I expected this to cost more being a bigger dealership but this oil change was about $55 and one from express oil change is $96 for my Jeep! So I’m happy to report back that my issue was completely resolved with an oil change, I hope that’s the case for y’all’s too!

Hi I am having trouble with my 2017 Jeep Compass TrailHawk. It is telling me to stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. Once it does that and I keep driving it turns off the A/C first then the dashboard for the radio. Then throws a lot of different signs and lights telling me that things are turning off. The engine light turns on and the transmission says it needs to be serviced. I did in the beginning pull over and turn off the vehicle. I had it checked at several shops and they can not find the problem. In the beginning when I pulled over and turned the Jeep off and back on the lights for the shut off soon we’re gone. But it has gotten more and more severe and problems. I changed both batteries like the Jeep dealership near me said to do and it is still having problems.
Check my last post, hopefully it will help you too. They said it’s commonly overlooked because it seems like a much bigger issue, worth a shot!

Thank you for your input, I just posted my solution above!
Many of the 2018s had oil consumption problems. Mine did. There was a recall to solve the problem and apparently it worked. However, if yours hasn't had the recall service done, or don't know, check with your dealer.

Hello, my new compass with just less than 200 miles is showing this. I took it back to the dealer but they could not find any code and asked me to bring it over when the message is active. I just want to check if anyone has seen this message. I looked online and the only place I could find it being asked is in a jeep JL wrangler forum and they have Jeep care specialists that took their information since there's a good amount reporting about it with their new jeeps.
Same thing happened to me last night. Took the kids to Disneyland and as soon as we got into the parking structure this warning came on. Was able to park but the car would not start up again.
Before that happened, on my way to the gas station, the start stop light came on with an explanation point also the battery light. After I fueled up and started the car, the lights never came back on. Just this message once I got to the park. Has anyone received an end result? Can't seem to find out what it is here.

Has anyone actually seen a resolution or solution to this issue? My daughter also purchased a 2018 Compass recently, and is getting this same message (Stop Safely, will shut off soon). It actually did shut off on her while on the road. Doesn't seem like a very safe feature.

This seems to be a common occurrence, yet no solutions posted. We checked the oil, it's topped off. That doesn't appear to be the issue. The light will come on, then it will be off for a few days, then back on again.

It was my Auxiliary battery that died, and when that happened my main battery ended being drained. so i got both of them replaced and no more issues.

Same thing on 2018 trail hawk this is bullshit that Jeep doesn't have a answer on this you are going to get people killed or seriously injured of this thing shuts off in the middle of road or the expressway. If I would have known about half the stuff I know now I would have never bought it.

@JeepCares I’ve been struggling with the same problem and paid thousands to repair something that just keeps reoccurring. I replaced the batteries and the alternators and several sensors. I also have a 2018 jeep compass and I bought it in 2020 from Carvana with less than 8,000 miles on it. This issue with my car has almost caused me to get in serious accidents, and I’ve missed work and I can’t go anywhere. Please help.

@JeepCares I am having the same issue with my 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk. The check engine light will come on, say the auto start/stop is unavailable when you start the car. If you continue to drive the car the “vehicle will shut off soon” message appears. It doesn’t do this every time and sometimes a few days to weeks can go by before it happens again. Sometimes you can shut the car off once, or a few times, and restart and it will go away. I took it to Firestone first, the said a power line was fried because someone put the wrong fuse in. They fixed it, but two days later it came on again. I took it back and was told to take it to a Jeep dealer because of the mopar gateway. I took it to a Jeep dealer. The first time he replaced some fuses and cleaned the ground, seemed good, then a week later the light and message came on again. I took it back to the Jeep dealer. This time they replaced the whole fuse panel for the start/stop system that sits on top. The mechanic said something in one of them was rattling. That was about a month ago and the light just started coming on again today. I just purchased this vehicle in February and am getting really frustrated. No one seems to know the solution to this. I do know anytime the light comes on the code it shows is P2AF5, starter relay 3 stuck on but there does not seem to be a solution to this.

@JeepCares I am experiencing the same issue. This is now the 2nd occurrence in the past month. The first time this happened my car shut down on the highway. I've had a new battery installed and a new alternator assembly and the issue arose again today. I've had the car towed to my dealership. Please assist, as I do believe the dealership knows how to resolve.

@JeepCares I made my original post back in September. I am still having issues with no resolution. It happens so randomly. It can go a week without a problem. Then you go to start the car and the check engine light comes on with Auto start stop not available. Sometimes you can shut it off and restart and it will go away. Sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes the engine will shut off soon warning light comes on, other times it doesn’t. If you check with a scanner it says “P2AF5, starter relay 3 stuck on.” Still no one seems to know what that means. I am really at the stage where I’m thinking of trading it in but I haven’t had the car very long and other then this I have had no other issues.

@JeepCares Message: Warning, Stop safely Vehicle Will shut down Soon

I have had this problem since August 1, 2023 and my Jeep dealer has not been able to repair it. They asked for this piece that they believe could be 68372333AAM ODULE-BA , But due to some strikes, the piece is in back order and does not have an arrival date in Puerto Rico. Anything I can do to repair the part? And correct this problem? My email is : c.sotorenta@gmail.com, I will appreciate any response, help or suggestion. Thank you
