I’m still waiting too, but I wonder if the updates are rolling out slowly first and then once the feedback comes in that the update worked, they will roll it out to bigger markets. I’m in Toronto so if that’s what’s happening I would guess it will be a while before I see it.

Frankly I prefer the metric system. Centigrade makes much better sense for temperature readings. There was a movement maybe 40 years ago to move the US to metric, but aside from a few highway signs it seems to have died out. If we ever do that, maybe we can get the Brits to drive on the RIGHT side of the road!

Can't be surprised that the upgrade changed a lot of settings, probably back to factory original.
Hate to say it, but your affinity for ”C” over “F” is very much the exception for the US.
Failure of the movement 40 years ago tells the tail. I will be disappointed if the displays don’t match in “F”.

Thank you for your report! Nice to see that the OTA update really exists.
I have never seen it in the 14 month my 4xE has now 🥲

Suppose the numbering in Europe is different, because my MY21 is now on R17P.2-PROD
No OTA seen, even with downloading via Wifi applied with the On Board Wifi + my home wifi.
???

It's what we're all used to in the US. Changing would be a big hassle, too -- signs all over the country. I'm sure that's why the resistance. Americans think in miles (from the Latin milia passuum, i.e, a thousand paces. Those Romans must have had a pretty strong stride -- I'd say it's closer to two thousand paces for me. When someone says it's 50 KMs to the lake, I have to do a calculation in my head; if they say it's 30 miles, I can form an idea. When someone says it's 32 degrees I reach for my sweater, not my iced tea. Having been in the food business for many years, I've gotten a little familiar with it because so much calculation is done in grams. Medicine is all in grams, too.

But hey, the Brits dumped their monetary system and changed to decimal back in the late 1960s. I think I was in high school at the time, but not in the UK. I can only imagine the furor was equal to the brexit controversy..

And yes, I agree that your displays should be able to display in either system.

I got the update just few minutes back. Yet to test the volume fading issue, hoping to do it tomorrow. Will keep all posted!

Vehicle: Jeep Compass Trailhawk 2022 [10.1 inch Touchscreen with Premium Speakers]
Location: San Diego, California
Existing UConnect version: R17.99

Few details regarding the update, if it may help anyone.

1. I got the update notification immediately when I shifted to 'Park' after driving a while. [Pic #1]
2. During the update you should keep the vehicle in 'Park' and should be in an open area to get better network.
3. My update process took overall 15-20 mins. [Pic #2 & 3]
4. During the update the Uconnect system restarted a few times, you might see notifications like 'Emergency Brake not working - Please Service', 'Auto Headlight not working...' etc kind of messages, which will go away automatically as update continues. [Pic #4 & 5]
5. The Collision warning light (yellow) remains on the dashboard after update. You need to turn on Pedestrian Brake assist from the settings again, it will go away. [Pic #6]
6. There was volume discrepancy after update as JeepCares mentioned. Feels better once factory reset is done. [Pic #7 & 8]
7. Overall update was smooth, but the UI, Theme loading seems a little bit buggy! Home Jeep fixes those issues soon. [Pic #9]

I will be happy if the volume fading issue goes away and all the safety system works properly! Going to test over the weekend. 🤞

Thank you for this information! Greatly appreciated!

I have a question for Steph with Jeep Cares. But do Compass owners have to subscribe to the AT&T Hotspot plan to be able to receive the Over-the-Air updates? I just got the 3 months' notice of a free trail expiration notice and just thought that not opting into this service might prevent getting the update!

good question, I always thought that as well, do we need to be connected to wifi? or will it just appear on its own

I don't think so but Steph @JeepCares can probably give an authoritative answer. I'm flagging her with this post.

My previous truck was a 2019 Ram Bighorn. I have never activated the hotspot and had updates come through the radio connection. (Without my phone connected).
obtw, still waiting for the compass update. One interesting fact to share. While driving north from Florid, my wife figured out the radio failed at around 45 degrees.

With your experience with Ram and my experience with Ford Sync, I’m guessing and hoping that having an Hotspot subscription isn’t necessary and I really don’t think I need the Hotspot service since I’m usually streaming from my phone! I’m also hoping that remote services from the Jeep App will continue to operate normally even thought the Jeep apps milage to empty is never in sync with the dash read out which I find very strange!

Hi there,

A Wi-fi Hotspot subscription is not required to receive over-the-air updates.

I got the update today but it failed. I guess I was in a bad area for reception. However, the update is not coming back. Is there anything I have to do to get the update again? It’s not automatically coming back. I even tried Wifi and still nothing. What do you do if you get the notice that the update failed? Wait until it comes again? Thanks.

Also, do I need to have Wifi on for the update?

The post above yours is from JeepCares and she says you don't need wifi.

Thank you Jasmine. I figured that but wanted to be sure. I just want to know what I have to know now that the update failed and it’s not coming back. When will it push back to my car? I figured it would be right away since it was pushed once. It’s not coming back and I even shut the car down and back on again hoping it will resend the update. But, nothing. I’m confused.

This is another example of why Jeep needs to put more control in customers and Jeep technicians hands to get these updates!!!!
