Yeah, I don't want to vent, I just want this fixed! It IS good to know though that I'm not the only one having this issue - It makes it easier to argue with the Dealership to show them that I'm not imagining this isue.
We're trying to keep this thread informative. There is a thread to vent, complain, and otherwise commiserate here: A place to vent about the radio fading issue

PS, I agree with you post #31 that I would not purchase a Compass right now. I like mine (2019) but I'd want to see the fix successfully implemented before I bought another.

When anyone has the update done, please keep us informed!

Hello everyone,

We're returning with a new update regarding the S26.17 over-the-air update.
  • For vehicles at the R17.99 software level, the national launch is starting, so you should expect to receive pop-up notifications for the update over the next week.

  • For vehicles at the R17.98 software level, the launch is starting regionally within Stellantis North America Headquarters based in Michigan. From there, the national launch will follow in the upcoming weeks, but this timing is subject to change at any time for any reason.

  • For vehicles that already received the S26.17 update and noticed a volume discrepancy that requires you to adjust the volume higher than normal, performing a factory reset on the radio will resolve the volume discrepancy.
    • Please keep in mind that performing a factory reset will delete all saved/stored information including but not limited to phone pairings, radio presets, navigation locations, driver profile settings, etc., so you may need to add them back if they disappear after the reset.
      • To perform a factory reset open the VEHICLE app --> scroll to SETTINGS --> scroll to FACTORY RESET
    • If you chose not to perform the factory reset, we expect the volume discrepancy to be resolved in the next over-the-air update, but we do not have an ETA on that update at this time.
Additionally, please feel welcome to reach out to us here or via private message for any questions or concerns and we are happy to assist to the best of our ability.

Hi tlskaggs74,

You can locate your information by selecting Apps > All Apps > Settings > System Information > Build Number on your radio screen.

I got the update just few minutes back. Yet to test the volume fading issue, hoping to do it tomorrow. Will keep all posted!

Vehicle: Jeep Compass Trailhawk 2022 [10.1 inch Touchscreen with Premium Speakers]
Location: San Diego, California
Existing UConnect version: R17.99

Few details regarding the update, if it may help anyone.

1. I got the update notification immediately when I shifted to 'Park' after driving a while. [Pic #1]
2. During the update you should keep the vehicle in 'Park' and should be in an open area to get better network.
3. My update process took overall 15-20 mins. [Pic #2 & 3]
4. During the update the Uconnect system restarted a few times, you might see notifications like 'Emergency Brake not working - Please Service', 'Auto Headlight not working...' etc kind of messages, which will go away automatically as update continues. [Pic #4 & 5]
5. The Collision warning light (yellow) remains on the dashboard after update. You need to turn on Pedestrian Brake assist from the settings again, it will go away. [Pic #6]
6. There was volume discrepancy after update as JeepCares mentioned. Feels better once factory reset is done. [Pic #7 & 8]
7. Overall update was smooth, but the UI, Theme loading seems a little bit buggy! Home Jeep fixes those issues soon. [Pic #9]

I will be happy if the volume fading issue goes away and all the safety system works properly! Going to test over the weekend. 🤞

I’ve been waiting for this update for my 2022 Compass. Meanwhile, after sitting for a week or so, i jumped into my Ram pickup only to find it had experienced an update also. However, all my preset radio stations were gone and I found out I could not sync the driver/passenger climate controls. Meanwhile, my wife, driving the Compass back from Florida, experienced multi hours of no audio when the temp dropped below 45 deg F.
My point is, be sure to look into all the functions, not just radio volume. You may find non functional items and these need to be escalated.

How'd you guys do today? Did you test?
Today is Feb 3rd and as I told everyone I got the update yesterday and know after driving continually for 2.5 hours in temperatures ranging from 17-36 Degrees, I can report back that the update seemed to work great for the volume Fading Issue! Everyone should notice a few other changes including the lighter background (which my wife liked) and the much longer volume scale when adjusting the volume! We also did not have an issue with the Crash Avoidance System suddenly turning off!

I also want to apologize to Jasmine, George and Steph about how much of a pessimist I was that this update would take care of all the issues! More testing still needs to be done but so far so good!

I too got my update. I haven't done a trip longer than 30 minutes so I can't say with certainly that it worked. I am not thrilled that I have to have the volume at 20 to hear anything When I questioned it with Jeep Wave they said to do a factory reset but then I will have to re pair my phone and update my profile settings. I may do this because anything under 20 volume Is silent

I know it's a pain in the B-tt, but doing the factory reset and repairing your phone and audio presets maybe took 10-15 minutes. I really suggest everyone do it!

I got mine and it seems to have solved the volume fading issue. I don't like the lighter color background. Why was this changed? And the update screwed with many of my settings, especially annoying was changing fehrenheit to centigrade. After figuring out how to reset to ferhenheit, all works as should except the speed limit indicator on the nav screen. It is still in centigrade.

Frankly I prefer the metric system. Centigrade makes much better sense for temperature readings. There was a movement maybe 40 years ago to move the US to metric, but aside from a few highway signs it seems to have died out. If we ever do that, maybe we can get the Brits to drive on the RIGHT side of the road!

Can't be surprised that the upgrade changed a lot of settings, probably back to factory original.
